CRUX
CRUX is a fast-paced single player arena shooter roguelike inspired by the refined mechanics and the drive to mastery of old school boomer shooters of the 90s and the replayability and powerful abilities of roguelike action games.
CRUX aims to replicate the experience of high level Quake gameplay in a single player setting. Your arsenal consists of three weapons, the Shotgun with its grapple hook secondary, the Plasma Rifle with its Railgun secondary, and the Rocket Launcher with remote detonation secondary, replicating the unholy trinity of Rail, LG and Rockets.
Every time you enter an arena you get a choice of 1 of 3 randomized perks which passively change your gameplay and strategy. Picking perks that synergize with each other and your gameplay is key to success. Additionally, CRUX lets you pre-pick up to 4 of your favorite perks to define your playstyle.
Even though it is a single player experience, CRUX still has a competitive side. Successfully finishing a run (completing all 13 arenas in one go) will land you in the leaderboards where players are ranked by their completion time. Customize your perk loadout to give you the best chance to make it up to top spot!
In CRUX you play as a cultist warrior of the blood gods, trained from childhood to undertake the trials of the CRUX. The trials consist of 13 arenas across 5 worlds, where you'll face hordes of demons native to that world. Survive the hordes to earn the right to face the Guardian of the Arena, boss fights unique to each arena that will test your skills with movement, weapons, controlling the arena.
The blood gods watch your step, and for every arena they will bless you with a selection of magic abilities to increase your power. With a selection of over 100 abilities you will have the opportunity to customize your gameplay to suit your playstyle. Whether you want to bust your foes' skulls with the Skullcrusher, chain lightning magic, steal their lifeforce (or much more!), the choice is yours!
Successfully beating all the arenas will land you a spot in the leaderboards. But the true champion is the fastest one, so customize your build and go again to try and get to the top spot!
