Train Simulator: Penn Central Pack 01
The Penn Central – it was a 20,000-mile railroad goliath created in the late 1960s through the merger of great rivals New York Central and Pennsylvania, plus the famed New Haven. Penn Central endured a troubled existence until rolled into Conrail in 1976, but nonetheless the giant railroad hosted an extraordinary variety of operations and called upon one of the largest and most diverse diesel locomotive rosters in history. And now, Penn Central railroading comes to Train Simulator – with Penn Central Pack 01 from acclaimed High Iron Simulations!
Penn Central Pack 01 delivers the realistic experiences and challenges of railroading in the late 1960s and early 1970, as first- and second-generation diesels haul passengers and handle tonnage on one of Train Simulator’s classic routes – the double-tracked and bustling ex-New Haven Springfield Line in New England.
Penn Central Pack 01 includes six types of diesel locomotives, in multiple variations and a variety of authentic Penn Central and Pennsylvania Railroad liveries:
Each of the locomotives in Penn Central Pack 01 feature the advanced and authentic air braking systems as developed by Mike Rennie of Smokebox.
Joining the diverse motive power in Penn Central Pack 01 is a selection of freight rolling stock, including Penn Central’s noted Nb5 (ex-PRR) and NE-5 (ex-NYNH&H) cabooses, Penn Central (ex-NYNH&H) streamlined parlor-baggage-lounge and coach, and a selection of nine types of period-authentic freight rolling stock in multiple liveries and variations, including Penn Central, New York Central, Pennsylvania, and New Haven liveries. And Penn Central Pack 01 will put you right to work with ten realistic career scenarios on the busy and now visually enhanced Train Simulator Springfield Line: Springfield – New Haven route, handling passenger, main line freight, local, and switching duties across the length of the line.
Note: The locomotives and equipment of Penn Central Pack 01 can be used on a variety of Train Simulator routes. The included scenarios require the Springfield Line: Springfield – New Haven Route Add-On (route available separately).
