Train Simulator: Linz - Passau Route Add-On
Embark on more services throughout Austria, through towns, countryside, and right to the German border with another expansive stretch from RSSLO for Train Simulator Classic!
Covering the 105km line from Linz, Austria to the cross-border station of Passau, Germany, this route includes sections from 2 separate lines, the rapid Westbahn, and the winding Passauer Bahn, which branches off from the former at Wels. Across a variety of services, get up to speed and take things slow with passengers, as well as freight in-tow. Speed limits on the Westbahn reach as high as 200 km/h, meanwhile the Passauer Bahn keeps at a leisurely 120 km/h pace.
The Wels-Passau section itself is rich with history. Formerly known as the Empress Elisabeth Railway, this 80 km line was completed in 1861 as a key link between Germany and Austria, as beyond Passau, the tracks continued onward to Regensburg. This cross-border link made it a vital line for international traffic, which continues to see such use to this day - albeit with much easier journeys for passengers, who until 1995, still needed to pass border checks at Passau station.
In Train Simulator Classic, climb aboard ÖBB CityShuttle services across the full length of the route, as well as hauling freight, with the modern ÖBB 1016 – Austria awaits!
A series of Career scenarios are included:
More scenarios are available on the Steam Workshop online and in-game. Train Simulator’s Steam Workshop scenarios are free and easy to download, adding many more hours of exciting gameplay. With scenarios being added daily, why don’t you check it out now!
